Welcome to issue 5

Fly fishing means everything to me. In social groups I feel a little awkward as I worry that I am going to steer conversation to fishing and get blank looks from the non-fishers as I let them know that the first few sea trout are starting to appear on my local river.

These days though I am often introduced to people as Pete, he's a fly angler and conversation either stops at "that sounds fun" or "really? Do you sit under an umbrella?" which gives me a chance to spread the word to the uninitiated.

Since putting this ezine together I have found I am not alone. I didn't really think I was but it has been nice to meet and speak to so many people who have told me about what it all means to them.

This is what Eat, Sleep, Fish is all about. People sharing their love of fly fishing. Their experiences, successes and sometimes even failures. We're not taking things too seriously and in what appears to be a world where far too many people are, we hope there is a little space out there for us and what we are doing.

As ever, all we ask is that if you enjoy this edition could you please pass it on to your fly fishing friends. We have no financial motivations for the ezine, only that it is really fun to do and we're probably mad for doing it but we are loving it.

I was talking to Jim the other day, we were kicking around a few ideas and he said something really interesting to me. In hindsight it sounds obvious but after we have published each issue he said he sits down and reads it. That is despite writing articles and helping to put them together. I thought it was neat that after all the hard work he still enjoys it as a reader.

Issue 6 is underway and we have uncovered some really interesting stories for you to enjoy but if you fancy putting pen to paper or finger to keyboard let us know as we'd love to hear from you.
