Welcome to Issue 55

The trout are rising, the mayfly hatch has lasted a good long time and the sea trout are arriving in some good numbers. Life feels pretty good right now.

I’ve managed to cram in some fishing time with good friends and have really enjoyed my time on the river, both  as an angler or as part of my "proper" job as a guide.

I got the chance to fish alone on a special piece of river recently and it is something I don’t do a great deal. I have to say I really enjoyed it and think the silence was only broken with a “God dammit” when a trout I was targeting refused my fly for the umpteenth time. I laughed and it was only when I looked round that I noticed a friend who had been fishing downstream was watching me. He was smiling too. I really love these little moments and they contribute to the whole picture of why I love fly fishing so much.

Hope you enjoy this issue.

Thanks to our good friend Sandy Nelson for the cover shot, nice fish Sandy!

Good fishing.

Pete
