Welcome to Issue 58

So that’s it for the trout season on my home river. It is at this stage I sometimes feel a little low that I won’t be fishing there for a while. Things might be a little different next time I step into the Taw, it might  not. I allowed myself a little smile as I wound the line in for the last time. It was the very spot I started my year there and I was determined to fish a dry fly no matter the conditions. I got my ass kicked but didn’t care and remembered my friends watching as I cast into a run against the bank that I felt sure might hold a trout. It probably did but not one that wanted a dry. If nothing else it was, in my mind at least, a reasonable demonstration of how to get a really long drag free drift. Perhaps I’ll do the same next year.

I’m hitting the road soon for some back end salmon and perhaps even a grayling. The flies are tied the truck is loaded so I’ll be on my way.

I hope you enjoy this issue as much as me and big thanks to pal Perry for the cover shot.

Good fishing
