Welcome to Issue 44

First off, apologies. This issue is a few days later than normal. I've been lucky enough to head back to the US to do some fishing and then had a busy work schedule but I've managed it, eventually.

My daughter and I were sitting eating breakfast in Ennis, Montana, which is one of the most fishiest of fishing towns I have stayed in and we watched as guides and their clients pulled up, often with drift boats and grabbed a coffee and some flies too. You would walk down the main street and pass so many people decked out in fishing shirts and trousers that it was so common that fellow anglers didn't even acknowledge each other.

I compare that to here where we all make a point of saying hi or asking how the fishing has been as there are so few of us.

I drive past a house every day on my way to work that has a pair of waders hanging out front drying out. Each morning I hope I'll see the angler loading up their gear, whoever they are, so we can talk about where they fish, but no sign yet.

I suspect they have notcied the guy who slows down as he passes and takes evasive action so perhaps I never will, I hope I do though.

Work is going well with the new look ESF, it won't be long now.

Thanks to my daughter Charlie for the cover shot of Rock Creek.

Good fishing
