After a year of planning, the 22nd July saw an impressive 84 young fly anglers aged between 10 and 17 descend on Rutland for the Rutland Water Youth Day.
Many, many people gave up their time to help and the anglers were treated to sessions on fly tying, casting, boat handling and tactics along with plenty of fishing.
An amazing 42 volunteer boatmen ensured all of the anglers took to the water and plenty of fish were caught. Despite the poor weather we have had of late the sun shone and plenty of fish were caught!
It is great to see such hard work has paid off and the ranks of fly anglers is being swelled by a younger generation who are getting such pleasure from a pastime we all love so much.
The organisers of the event should be justly proud of the work they have done and those that gave up their time to make the day such a huge success.
