The outdoor lifestyle and fishing specialist brand, Orvis UK, will be launching their first ever Fly Fishing Club on March 1st. A forum for like-minded nature lovers and fishing enthusiasts, this club will provide unique and specialised content for its members as well as running fun and informative competitions.
In the Orvis Fly Fishing Club interactive posts will be encouraged, advice and guidance offered and personal experiences and anecdotes shared. From seasoned experts to eager novices, Orvis will welcome any from the fishing community who join with the hope of learning more about this brilliant sport and the environment in which we enjoy it.
A monthly competition that members can look forward to entering will be Orvis’ fishing photo submission. Be it an image of a wet dog rolling in the grass, an intricate fly hatch happening by the bank or a prize catch dangling from a favourite rod, Orvis look forward to celebrating each and every contribution that captures the essence of why we love to fish. From glimmering trout to comedic riverbank mishaps and atmospheric misty mornings, these competitions will include all that is joyful about fly fishing.
The Orvis Fly Fishing Club will additionally be used as a forum through which Orvis’ latest fishing news will first be heard. Exciting industry events, initiatives and projects will be discussed and revealed, whilst fascinating facts and beautiful imagery will be ever present.
One project that will receive monthly updates will be Orvis, the EA and Ian Gilette’s River Itchen project, an effort which aims to improve the degraded habitat of the stretch of the River Itchen which runs downstream of the MS Motorway Bridge at Abbots Worthy, restoring it to good environmental status and its original chalk stream condition by remodelling the channel to provide optimum depth and flow throughout the annual cycle.
Stay tuned also for regular updates on Orvis’ support of Game Wildlife & Conservation Trust’s River Frome project, which monitors and tags the movements and growth of the salmon parr that pass through it each year.
With exciting industry initiatives on their way, such as Orvis’ 50 50 on the water campaign, the fly fishing club will be a powerful platform through which to voice opinion, engage in discussion and help make a difference. This particular campaign aims to achieve an equal split of fishermen and fisherwomen on the water by 2020. With outreach events on their way that are specifically designed to educate women on gear choices, build skills and inspire confidence as well as additional mentoring opportunities for the next generation of guides, the Orvis fly fishing club will be the optimum place to learn more and stay updated, as well as contribute opinions and ideas.
Ultimately, Orvis’ fly fishing club is set to be a friendly group compiled of like-minded fishing enthusiasts; full of exclusive offers, exciting competitions, important initiatives and informative updates on relevant events and projects.
Orvis’ fly fishing club will primarily operate through their Facebook group, with relevant issues, competitions and themes additionally supported on Orvis’ other social media channels. The club will be represented at The London Fly Fishing Fair which will take place in the Business Design Centre, Islington, on March 23rd/24th – a perfect opportunity to learn more about the group and all of the exciting information it will encompass.
And the cherry on top - to celebrate the launch of their fly fishing club, Orvis are offering a month of free in-store tackle inspection! Simply contact your local store for more details.
