Sam Baycock takes a look at what is going on in the fly fishing world
Welcome to the second edition of The Eddy Current, circulating the latest in fly fishing! Christmas is done, New Year is all over and now we are into January, a funny month because we all feel a little lost after the festive excitement. Never mind, one month closer to the trout season!
We’re going to start with a short masterclass from Simon Gawesworth of RIO. For those who haven’t met Simon, he’s a great angler and what he doesn’t know about fly fishing isn’t worth knowing. Rest assured the knowledge in this video is coming from the best!
How often do you consider fish welfare when you’re angling? I have to admit, I think we are pretty good on the subject here in the UK, but we could all learn something new once in a while. I for one am very guilty of messing fish around for photographs. Here’s a quick and interesting video from Keepemwet Fishing on handling and care.
Finally, I want to draw your attention to the South West Fly Fair, coming to Roadford Lake on the 28th of February! Guest speakers, fly tying demos, casting sessions and a lot more, all for £3 a go. It would be great to see you all turn out for this!
