For me, a wading boot needs to be durable, light and easy to get on and off after a long day on the water.
The Vision Loikka wading boots address all of what I am looking for in a stylish and attractive package.
I also like the look of them too. The tan colouring is a little different from the norm which is a real breath of fresh air too.
I mentioned I look for a light pair of boots and sometimes this can come at the cost of weight being cut around important areas like the ankle area. This isn’t the case here and although they feel like a pair of training shoes in the hand there is also great support for your ankles so if you are doing plenty of walking or wading on really uneven rocks you are in safe hands.
The really nice touch is the soles. I went for the Studded Gummi sole which is new this year from Vision. They say it is a softer more sticky rubber compared to others currently on the market. The studs are neatly recessed into the sole but having now tried them on a variety of differing river bottoms there have been no situations where I thought I was going to slip. The Gummi sole is excellent.
The sole is designed to come up a little at the front to stop grit or small stones forcing their way between the uppers which can be an issue with wading boots as they age. I would suspect that it would also help the longevity of the sole staying attached to the upper.
So, I have walked long distances in them, fished a variety of rivers in them, wet waded in them as well as wearing waders with them and I have found them comfortable and light to wear.
Would I recommend them? You bet I would.
The Loikka Gummi sole with studs is £139.99
They are available from Vision Dealers. I got mine from Fly Fishing Tackle
